MN/WI Transmission Line Business Class Leader
HDR Engineering is recruiting an Area Transmission Business Class Leader to lead technical excellence and project delivery across the MN/WI region. The role reports to Area Operations Leadership and aligns with the Global Transmission Business Class Lead.
Responsibilities- Lead staff development and mentorship, including technical onboarding and training for Area Business Class staff.
- Participate in internal and external technical working groups or practice groups.
- Implement technical standards, guidelines, tools, and recommended practices within the area.
- Facilitate project‑level lessons learned meetings or workshops.
- Identify project delivery team requirements (experience, expertise, availability) for critical projects.
- Partner with Area Leadership to support technical and delivery staff recruitment and retention.
- Support local area/region in Go/No‑Go decisions, proposal development, and strategic pursuits within the Transmission Business Class.
- Lead proposal technical reviews.
- Drive HDR's quality processes and procedures, including business‑class‑specific enhancements and leading Project Approach and Resource Review (PARR) meetings.
- Achieve a utilization goal of 70%–75% by actively leading or supporting projects.
- Active participant in ongoing technical working groups (internal and external).
- Subject‑Matter Expert or strong knowledge of Transmission Design concepts.
- Experience designing and/or reviewing Transmission Design packages.
- Experience mentoring and coordinating workshare with multiple area offices.
- Strong knowledge of best practices, industry standards, and codes related to Transmission Design.
- General knowledge and experience with Transmission Design software.
- Experience aligned with area and regional clients, stakeholders, and industry standards/committees.
- Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
- 10 years of experience.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience.
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
- Cooperative working with other area business‑class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
- Attitude and commitment to active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
