Field Engineering Technician
Job Description
Join our team as a Field Engineering Technician to work at a state-of-the-art Microsoft Data Center.
Your role will be essential in the field commissioning of customized building automation systems, ensuring seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
+ Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems using advanced Direct Digital Control technology.
+ Serve as a local contact for technical issues and lead in the field.
+ Provide effective solutions for complex system issues.
+ Deliver turnkey project management on small to medium projects.
+ Ensure proper functioning of systems, including controls, sensors, and software.
+ Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports.
+ Implement time management strategies to guarantee customer satisfaction.
+ Communicate and document project status and details for the customer.
+ Provide site-specific training to owners/operators on the complete system.
Essential Skills
+ Technical knowledge of HVAC systems and electrical troubleshooting.
+ Experience using a multi-meter.
+ Ability to explain components such as actuators and VFDs.
+
Experience with building chillers, pressure systems, boilers, and temperature controls.
+ Capability to start up systems with customers.
+ A valid and current driver's license.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or a related field.
+
Experience with building automation software like WebCTRL.
+ Basic understanding of navigating and integrating into various building automation systems.
+ Proficiency in using an electrical multi-meter.
+ Good understanding of common HVAC systems such as RTUs, air handlers, VAV boxes, Chillers, Boilers.
+ Ability to read and understand HVAC mechanical prints.
+ Ability to check out/commission common HVAC controls devices such as sensors, valves, damper motors, relays.
Work Environment
This role involves working at a Microsoft Data Center in Racine, WI, with a project scope that includes checkout and verification. The duration is 1-3 years, with potential opportunities to travel to other data center projects or support local work in schools, pharma plants, and university systems. Expect to work 10-hour days and most Saturdays. Training includes a 3-week session at an ALC training site to gain credentials specific to ALC and Microsoft, followed by experience at an active data center elsewhere in the country before mobilizing in Racine.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
