Mechanical Engineer

Provides engineering and technical support for power generation and industrial facilities, with responsibility for managing capital and maintenance projects, conducting equipment testing and analysis, and supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

This role leads troubleshooting efforts for operational issues, supports installation and commissioning activities, and contributes to the continuous improvement of equipment reliability and system performance. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting power plants or heavy industrial facilities and a demonstrated ability to oversee mechanical projects from planning through execution.

• Manage capital and maintenance projects, including coordination of scope, schedule, budget, contractors, and execution activities.
• Serve as the engineering lead for mechanical equipment upgrades, replacements, and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering teams, contractors, and equipment vendors to support project development and implementation.
• Design and conduct equipment testing, analyze results, and develop recommendations to improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Develop detailed testing and commissioning plans that prioritize safety, minimize operational disruption, and ensure coordination among stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot equipment and system issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions to resolve operational and maintenance challenges.
• Provide technical support during installation, startup, commissioning, and modification of new or existing equipment.
• Analyze operating data, maintenance records, and performance trends to identify opportunities for reliability improvements and cost savings.
• Support the development of capital improvement plans and maintenance budgets by identifying equipment needs and recommending projects.
• Assist with the development and implementation of operating procedures, maintenance standards, and training programs.
• Maintain engineering documentation, technical records, and change management processes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide technical support for critical operational issues as needed.

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 7 years of engineering experience within power generation, utilities, energy infrastructure, or heavy industrial environment.
• Experience overseeing mechanical capital projects, equipment replacements, plant upgrades, or major maintenance initiatives.
• Experience working directly with plant operations and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment and mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, turbines, generators, piping systems, heat exchangers, and related plant equipment.
• Experience supporting installation, startup, commissioning, and performance testing of industrial equipment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing operational support responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of root cause analysis, equipment reliability principles, and preventive maintenance practice.
• Working knowledge of industrial controls, instrumentation, and electrical systems commonly found in plant environments.
