Highway Engineer

• Serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects
• Oversee the work of CAD Designers and junior staff
• Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff
• Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams
• Learn from senior staff to grow knowledge and expertise
• Assist with project management responsibilities as Deputy PM (optional)
• Other duties as needed

• A minimum of 3 years experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
• Experience with Civil3D Design and Modeling
• WisDOT Process Knowledge

• Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
• Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) recognized by the licensing board for the position location
• Hands‑on experience with Highway and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley Concept Station, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk Infra Works, and Civil3D
• MS Office knowledge
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, concept alignments, geometrical layout, and CAD base alignment plans
• Commitment to active participation in the employee‑owned culture
