Field Engineering Technician
Join our team at a Microsoft data center in Racine, WI, supporting the startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation and control systems. This hands-on role focuses on Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for HVAC, chiller plants, energy monitoring, lighting, and environmental controls. Start up, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize building automation systems.
Configure control devices, sensors, alarms, trends, and reporting tools.
Verify operation of valves, actuators, dampers, relays, and related equipment.
Diagnose and resolve system issues using software and electrical test tools.
Update control drawings and project documentation.
Support projects from startup through commissioning and owner training.
Communicate technical findings and project status with customers and project teams.
Travel occasionally for training and support at other data center locations.
Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in building automation, HVAC, controls, construction, energy, power generation, or a related technical field.
Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, and temperature controls.
Ability to safely troubleshoot electrical systems and use a multimeter.
Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work extended schedules, including occasional Saturdays.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or relevant trade experience.
Experience with building automation platforms (WebCTRL preferred).
Ability to read HVAC drawings and control schematics.
Experience commissioning HVAC controls and related devices.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Work at a Microsoft data center with exposure to advanced automation technologies.
Approximately 3 weeks of paid training plus hands-on project experience.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
