OverviewWe are seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer to support our growing Solid Waste practice
. Candidates with 3+ years of experience
in civil, environmental, or solid waste engineering are encouraged to apply.
In this role, you'll support the design, permitting, construction, and operation of municipal and industrial landfills, transfer stations, recycling facilities, composting facilities, and other solid waste infrastructure.
The position is preferably based in Madison, WI, but candidates located throughout Wisconsin and Midwest states will also be considered.
Responsibilities- Engineering design, project support, and project management for a variety of solid waste engineering projects.
- Design and support municipal and industrial landfills, transfer stations, materials recovery facilities (MRF), recycling centers, and related solid waste infrastructure.
- Provide planning, design, and construction support for landfill gas collection systems, leachate management systems, landfill closures, post-closure care, and construction quality assurance.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects from planning and permitting through design and construction.
- Support additional civil engineering projects involving site development, stormwater management, drainage, grading, geotechnical engineering, and related infrastructure, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
- 3+ years of experience in civil, environmental, or solid waste engineering. Experience with landfill design, permitting, site development, stormwater management, grading, drainage, geotechnical engineering, or related civil engineering disciplines is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred. Ability to obtain licensure is highly desirable.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar civil design software preferred.
- Must have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong technical aptitude and proficiency with engineering software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to mentor and train junior staff.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred, but not required:
- Landfill design, permitting, and capacity analysis
- Landfill gas collection and control systems, leachate management, and treatment systems
- Stormwater management, wetland permitting, grading, and site development
- Design, permitting, construction, and operation of landfills, transfer stations, materials recovery facilities (MRFs), recycling centers, composting facilities, and other solid waste infrastructure
- Construction management, quality assurance, and facility operations
- Landfill closure, post-closure care, and environmental compliance
- Renewable energy and waste-to-energy systems, including landfill gas-to-energy, solar, wind, anaerobic digestion, and biogas
