Event Staff/ Venue Crew, Event Manager / Planner
Job Summary
Assists with set‑up, installation, and operation of audio‑visual hardware and software. Prepares rooms and venues for events, ensuring functionality and security. Supports conferences, meetings, and special events from preparation through execution.
Key Job Responsibilities- Set up, install, adjust, and connect audio, visual, lighting, and computer equipment for events, academic instruction, or meetings.
- Perform basic hardware and software checks to ensure proper functionality and security requirements are met.
- Answer questions and provide information regarding AV equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on established materials and standards.
- Perform on‑site event room setup, reconfiguration, detailing, and post‑event cleanup to meet event specifications and customer expectations.
- Greets customers and guests, assists with event registration and way finding, and provides support during event execution.
- Guide and train student employees in event setup procedures, customer service standards, and basic AV support.
- Assist with troubleshooting basic AV equipment and coordinating event logistics to ensure successful event operations.
- Support event operations at the Discovery Building (330 N. Orchard St.) and other campus venues as needed.
Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on event schedules.
Required Qualifications- 6 months or more of professional customer service experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic technology and AV equipment issues.
- Capability to lift and move equipment and furnishings as required for event setup and teardown.
- Independent worker as well as a team player in a fast‑paced environment.
- Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with audio‑visual equipment, including microphones, projectors, presentation systems, and video‑conferencing platforms.
- Experience supporting meetings, conferences, or special events.
- Familiarity with event diagrams, room setup specifications, and event management software.
- High school diploma preferred.
- $21.00 per hour base pay.
- + $2.50 per hour for night hours worked (6 p.m.–6 a.m.).
- + $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked.
- + Time and a half for hours worked on designated legal holidays.
