Join the Department of Revenue, Division of Research and Policy, as a manager leading our Tax Policy Team.
This position serves as a policy analyst to the Administrator and Secretary of Revenue, assigns and reviews research projects, fiscal notes and revenue estimates, and directs the completion of biennial and annual reporting requirements for various taxes. You will represent the Department at interagency, legislative, and public meetings when appropriate.

The Revenue Economist Manager leads the Tax Policy Team, overseeing research and analysis of state and local tax policy, modeling state aid and shared revenue programs, developing revenue estimates and economic forecasts, and providing guidance to executive and legislative agencies.
Salary InformationThe starting pay rate for this position is between $49.06 and $58.82 per hour ($102,044–$122,345 annually), depending on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This classification also receives an additional $4.00 per hour add‑on to the base pay. The position is within Pay Schedule 81, Pay Range 01.
Job Details- Background checks: criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks.
- I‑9 requirements: applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Probationary period: a 2‑year Career Executive trial period.
- Remote/telework up to 60%: after an initial adjustment period, employees may work remotely up to three days per week.
Minimum qualified candidates will have each of the following:
- Experience conducting policy research and/or fiscal analysis regarding tax areas such as individual income, corporate tax, franchise taxes, property, excise tax policy, and/or local government issues.
- Experience interpreting statutes, administrative rule provisions, and/or policies.
- Experience summarizing and presenting policy issues.
- Experience as the primary technical expert or key person leading a study or project.
- Experience using statistical and/or analytical software programs such as SAS, SPSS, STATA, etc.
- Experience conducting policy research and/or fiscal analysis regarding at least two of the tax areas listed above.
- Experience summarizing and presenting policy issues to executive leaders or external stakeholders.
- Experience as a manager or supervisor.
- Experience with program management, including strategic planning, developing procedures, monitoring key completion dates, and reporting on workload.
