Role OverviewWe are looking for a detail-oriented audit-focused Compliance/Accounting Manager who will be hands‑on in ensuring adherence to SEC and state regulations for both our mutual fund company and our registered investment adviser. The responsibilities of the compliance aspect of the role include managing the compliance program, policies and procedures. Key duties include conducting audits, assisting with various filings, providing training, reviewing access person’s trading activity and oversight of internal process and procedures via performance of testing.
In addition, this individual will serve as a liaison to our public accounting firm and will need to understand journal entry accounting and financial statements so as to provide guidance on certain accounting questions and classifications presented by the outside firm. An individual in this role must understand the inflows and outflows of the firm and understand the impact of that activity on the financial statements.
This role will require an understanding of accrual accounting and the adjustments resulting from the true‑up of the accruals to actual expense. It is critical that this person understand the inner workings of the balance sheet and income statement and be able to analyze changes in the accounts to confirm that the financial statements are accurate. This role will also be responsible for insuring that our invoices are appropriate in conjunction with the contracts that drive them.
The marketing component will involve the review of both internal and external marketing pieces for compliance with the regulations dictated by the SEC. These pieces require approval from compliance and in the case of the mutual funds the approval of our distributor. This role will coordinate the approval of the distributor and drive the SEC required record retention. In addition, this role will provide support for marketing events.
This will entail the coordination of the set‑up of the booths by the conference contract staff and attendance at each event to further develop your understanding of the industry and its regulatory requirements. There are two to three events each year.
- Monitor and test processes and procedures to ensure firm compliance with investment company and adviser rules and regulations
- Update policies and procedures as needed based on company and/or regulatory changes
- Train Staff on rules and regulations and coordinate training for investment adviser representatives
- Monitor digital communications and personal trading along with other critical procedures
- Provide intermediary and vendor review including relevant contracts
- Conduct oversight of services provided by US Bancorp, Transfer Agent and Distributor and act as the point of contact for their reporting to TIM
- Participate in various committee efforts in an oversight role as compliance specialist
- Ensure record keeping is complete and in conformity with SEC regulation
- Analyze risks on an on‑going basis and complete testing as provided for in the Compliance Program Risk Matrix
- Conduct internal AML audit
- Coordinate accounting and financial statement preparation by local firm
- Provide input on monthly deposits to the firm to ensure proper accounting and reconciliation of receivables
- Review Quick Books records for proper classification and perform variance analysis
- Communicate changes identified to the accounting firm and process changes through the firm
- Deliver variance analysis to ownership team and other key updates via report to Enterprise Risk Management Committee
- Complete document requests for the accounting firm to facilitate preparation of corporate tax return
- File necessary documentation with the State of Wisconsin and Delaware
- Assist with set‑up of accruals and true‑up of actual expense to those accruals
