The Director of Finance
, who reports to the Board of Directors, provides financial leadership, management, and vision, and is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of the firminancial processes and strategies.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected law firm with over 140 years of history providing exceptional legal services to communities, businesses, nonprofits, and individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Managing Partner and Board of Directors in the analysis, development, and implementation of long-range financial plans and strategies for the firm.
- Direct, review, and approve the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, and present them, with accompanying financial analysis, to the Board of Directors and partnership team.
- Prepare annual operating and capital budgets.
- Lead the identification and implementation of forward-looking process improvement strategies.
- Partner with external CPA firm to complete necessary tax documents.
- Develop and document financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, and monitor for compliance.
- Oversee the leasing of technology and equipment.
- Assist in developing and analyzing investment areas such as technology enhancements, facilities, office space, hiring, and capital additions.
- Lead finance team.
- At least 10 years of finance and accounting experience.
- Experience with finance and accounting in a law firm or other professional services environment (e.g. medical, dental, etc.), with proficiency in calculating compensation based on complex and variable inputs.
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related area, or equivalent work history.
- Teamwork orientation and supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to exercise courtesy, diplomacy, and tact when communicating with clients.
- Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, and the ability to work with attorneys, staff, clients, community, and business partners.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong project management, organization, and time management skills, and the ability to handle multiple deadlines under aggressive time constraints.
- CPA, MBA, or other advanced degree or certification in finance.
This position is based in Madison, with occasional travel to Milwaukee.
CompensationAnnual salary of $120,000-$150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
