* Assist the Assembly Democratic Caucus Leadership Team with caucus management, caucus meetings, policy development, and strategy;
* Assist Assembly Democratic Caucus with floor session preparation, floor management, and legislative procedure;
* Monitor legislation, conduct legislative research, prepare talking points, and draft legislation for Rep. Subeck and members of the Assembly Democratic Caucus;
* Write, prepare, and send a variety of communications including press releases and statements;
* Handle media inquiries;
* Staff Rep. Subeck in caucus meetings, committee hearings, and Assembly floor sessions;
* Assist Democratic Leadership with training and support of new caucus members and staff;
* Conduct outreach to the district and to local & statewide advocacy groups;
* Meet with lobbyists, agency staff, service agency staff, and other stakeholders on behalf of Rep. Subeck;
* Assist constituents with issues related to state agencies, legislative inquiries, and other relevant concerns;
* Provide clerical & office management support as needed
Salary Information
The position is full-time, and has an annual salary range of $58,394 to $89,015 with full state benefits.
Qualifications
* Experience in government, politics, non-profits, advocacy or organizing;
* Strong understanding of policy development and legislative processes;
* Strong verbal and written communications skills;
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize simultaneous projects and duties;
* Motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team;
* Excellent organizational skills;
* Possess a high degree of professionalism and an understanding of the discretion, attention to detail, and long hours needed to effectively staff a state legislator
