The DOJ, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), is charged with a purely criminal investigative mission. DCI employs Special Agents who are sworn law enforcement officers with statewide jurisdiction and is responsible for enforcing Wisconsin law. DCI partners with local, county, tribal, state, and federal officials to investigate and prosecute crimes including homicide, arson, financial crimes, illegal gaming, drug trafficking, computer crimes, homeland security, public integrity and government corruption, and crimes against children.

DCI also conducts investigations requested by the Governor or Legislature and provides extensive training to officers on current law‑enforcement issues.

Position Summary

DCI is recruiting a highly motivated and talented ICAC Outreach Specialist (Staff Development Program Specialist) to join the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in the Human Trafficking and Internet Crimes Against Children Bureau. The position is headquartered in the DCI Madison Field Office and will create and deliver ICAC digital safety presentations, coordinate statewide outreach, identify and analyze Wisconsin’s internet‑safety education needs, develop training programs, and work with law enforcement, school administrators, and community partners to elevate digital‑safety awareness statewide.

The role may also assist with Cyber Tipline activity, interact with task‑force affiliate members, and provide analytical case support to further investigations. Exposure to Child Sexual Abuse Material (images, videos, or narrative) is required.

Salary Information

The ICAC Outreach Specialist (Staff Development Program Specialist) position is in pay schedule 81, pay range 04. The starting pay will be between $33.00 and $37.17 per hour. Current or former state employees will receive pay per the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at hire. A 12‑month probationary period may apply.

Special Requirements
  • Occasional overnight travel to deliver training or attend public‑speaking events statewide (may require evenings or weekends).
  • Occasional in‑state travel to other agencies and meetings, including court appearances (must be eligible to drive).
  • The position must testify effectively as an expert concerning analysis performed, results, and conclusions. Testifying requires remaining free of Brady or Giglio obligations.

This position may be eligible for periodic remote work following an initial training period, including reporting on multiple consecutive workdays to the assigned headquarters as needed. Travel to headquarters is not eligible for reimbursement. High‑speed internet access is required for remote work.

The DOJ does not sponsor work visas at hire or during employment. An extensive background check—including fingerprints, drug screening, and psychological evaluation—will be completed on all applicants before selection.
