Position Summary
The Consumer Protection Investigator-Advanced (Project Position) (CPI-Adv), in the Division of Legal Services and Compliance (DLSC), performs the most complex investigations in order to secure testimony and physical evidence to support effective enforcement actions by the DLSC. Emphasis is placed on applying the statutes, administrative code, and minimum standards of a particular profession, to determine if there have been any violations by credential holders.
The outcomes of these investigations can result in setting statewide standards of practice in the professions affected. The CPI-Adv works under very general supervision of the Consumer Protection Investigator Supervisor. Other duties include:
* Assist the Consumer Protection Investigator Supervisor by providing consultation and assistance to attorneys, paralegals, and investigators in the investigation of complex, real estate appraisal cases, issues, and investigation skills.
* Plan, organize, and formulate investigative strategies incorporating applicable legal theories, sources of information, and appropriate investigative methodologies for cases involving real estate appraisal, real estate, and home inspection.
* Participate in hearings and work with Division attorneys to reach equitable resolutions of issues and bring licensees into voluntary compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice regulations.
* Serve as a primary resource and expert on appraisal issues.
* Perform legal support work (prepare case files, produce case summaries, etc.)
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (05-15) with an hourly rate of $29.88 plus excellent benefits.
Job Details
Wisconsin residency is required for project/project positions. This project/project position has been authorized through September 30, 2027 or until the funding is no longer available, whichever comes first.
Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:
* Training or experience with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).
* Experience developing a variety of written materials including reports, training manuals and/or policies and procedures.
* Experience reviewing appraisals for compliance with state and federal codes and statutes.
In addition to the above qualifications, well qualified applicants will have experience with at least one or more of the following:
* Experience with data collection, data analysis, and providing recommendations from the information gathered.
* Experience in policy development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
