The Outdoor Skills Program Consultant is in the Division of Public Safety and Resource Protection, Recreational Safety and Outdoor Skills (RSOS) Bureau, R3 Team. This position provides support and consultation for statewide programs and events focused on hunter, angler, and trapper recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) and represents the DNR’s R3 program at public events and meetings. This position will provide professional level administrative support including the management and tracking of R3 program equipment, materials, data entry, instructor communication, and participant record processing.

40% - Research, collect, analyze and compile information to manage R3 program databases and records. Track class enrollment, instructor background checks, and trends in R3 program metrics. Research and analyze R3 projects at the national level to project the effectiveness of programs in achieving similar goals in Wisconsin. Provide recommendations to improve Wisconsin’s R3 program and identify opportunities to reach diverse audiences.

35% - Provide technical assistance and/or R3 programs to increase understanding about hunting, fishing, and trapping techniques, safety, and equipment to conservation organizations, universities, youth leaders, citizens, other governmental agencies, and DNR staff.

20% - Order and maintain inventories of various R3 program related materials, assets, and equipment.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

This position pays $25.00 per hour and is in the Program and Policy Analyst classification in pay schedule and range 07-04. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

A Wisconsin resident is a person who:

a. Has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier;

b. Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;

c. Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or
