The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of addiction medicine physicians and advanced practice providers, registered nurses and other staff to coordinate, support and deliver evidence-based, high-quality substance use disorder treatment. The CSAC is responsible for delivery of evidence-based diagnostic assessment and treatment to adults with substance use disorders. The incumbent will receive day to day guidance, administrative supervision, and clinical consultation from the Associate Medical Director-Substance Use Disorder, with additional accountability to the Behavioral Health Services Manager.

Treatment benefits and progress toward goals will be monitored and reviewed regularly, utilizing measurement tools, and adjusting treatment focus as appropriate.

This position may also coordinate care with primary care, other specialty providers, and the other systems in which their patients interact (e.g., families) as needed. The CSAC may provide crisis support to GHC-SCW members, including triage and risk assessments, completing safety planning, and determining acuity and appropriate level of care for members seeking substance use disorder treatment services.

The CSAC will work collaboratively with addiction medicine physicians and advanced practice providers and be an active participant in substance use disorder department meetings.
