Responsibilities
  • Capture and maintain patient registration data for outpatient services at UnityPoint Health - Meriter clinics.
  • Query databases and search for existing medical record numbers to provide continuity of care within one medical record number.
  • Establish UnityPoint Health – Meriter Clinic billing accounts in Epic to accurately charge for services rendered.
  • Complete insurance verification, including eligibility checking and obtaining insurance benefits to maximize reimbursement; enter information accurately for use by registration, billing, medical records, and clinical staff.
  • Interact with internal and external customers and create a positive first impression of services at UnityPoint Health – New Start (Addictions Clinic).
  • Schedule all patient appointments in EPIC Cadence, answer a multiline phone, triage calls to appropriate clinic staff, and create patient call-back messages routed to clinic staff.
Qualifications
  • High School or Vocational School graduate
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively enter information into a variety of computer programs
  • Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Ability to interact effectively with physicians, health care team members, individuals and members of their support systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, education and lifestyle backgrounds
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English
  • Multicultural sensitivity
  • Microsoft Office – basic computer skills

  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgment
