Job Summary:This is an onsite Monday – Friday data-entry position that provides program support to the supervisory, administrative, and laboratory staff within Newborn Screening at the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH).
The main focus of this role is accurate entry of patient demographic information into the patient database; review of entry into patient database; and perform and document corrective actions to patient records. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: review of patient test requisitions and electronic orders; obtain missing demographic information; respond to requests for patient reports; assist with document control and archive functions;
perform customer service; participate in the development of procedures and guidelines to improve administrative and/or operating effectiveness; other duties as assigned.
Standard Job Summary
Performs administrative duties to support providers, staff, services, and unit programs. May serve as the primary contact or customer service representative and subject matter expert. Tracks, prioritizes, organizes, and completes multiple ongoing clinical, research or academic projects. Requires Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) knowledge or training.
KeyJob Responsibilities:
- Assists in coordinating the complex daily activities of providers or program(s) by entering information into databases, maintaining files and materials, and preparing reports - 70%
- Identifies opportunities for program improvements and makes recommendations to the appropriate entities - 5%
- Performs administrative tasks including telephone customer service, word processing, transcribing, filing, and calendaring - 10%
- Acts as the primary liaison for providers or programs and refers stakeholders to providers, agencies, patients, and staff - 15%

Compensation:$21.00/hour minimum (Depending on Qualifications)
Required Qualifications:- Minimum of 1 year of relevant data entry experience
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex daily activities with a team
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to type 50 words per minute
- 1-2 years of customer service experience
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
- Previous experience with Epic Systems Beaker application
High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education preferred.
