Position: Limited Term Life Enrichment Specialist (West Madison)

Life Enrichment Specialist

Oakwood Village has an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to join our senior living community facility team as a limited term Life Enrichment Specialist. Our Life Enrichment Specialist provides therapeutic programs in which to encourage persons to maintain independence, develop and pursue personal interest and social interactions. This position will work varied hours including weekends to meet resident and business needs.

Essential Responsibilities of a Life Enrichment Specialist (not meant to be an all inclusive list):

  • Develops, organizes, and implements activities geared toward programming, with the assistance from other staff as needed. Including one-on-one, small, and large group activities.
  • Facilitates therapeutic programs in order to maintain or increase individual functioning levels and/or interest pursuits.
  • Guides interested individuals to and from program locations, as necessary.
  • Demonstrates creativity in designing programs, to promote a variety of techniques, styles, and individual preferences.
  • Adapts programs to meet individual needs and/or interests.

Essential Qualifications of a Life Enrichment Specialist:

  • Previous experience in working with the elderly and/or disabled persons is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to the areas.
  • Recognizes and understands a person's capacity for appropriate leisure/programs of varied nature and physical demand.
  • Exercises independent judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Effectively plans, organizes, and prioritizes work load.
  • Communicate effectively with the residents.
  • Works well within established policies and procedures.
  • Works collaboratively in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork in meeting the mission of Oakwood Village.

Experience, Education, and/or Training:

  • Previous experience in working with the elderly and/or disabled persons is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • COTA, recreation therapy, or related education field preferred.
