Research Program Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Program Coordinator to join the Implementation IMPACT Lab (Implementation Science to Accelerate Community Translation) led by Dr. Shellie Ellis. The IMACLT focuses on advancing precision medicine and improving evidence-based care delivery in rural health settings through implementation science, health services research, and community-based approaches to address health disparities. The Coordinator will support two major initiatives – the Thrive Kansas Digital Mental Health Initiative and TEAMSPORT – and contribute to other research projects as they arise.

Responsibilities include managing evaluation activities, coordinating team-building interventions, standardizing genomic testing protocols, and building cross-organizational relationships with clinical specialists and oncology researchers. Administrative duties involve supervising staff, managing IRB documentation, regulatory compliance, and interaction with institutional research offices. The role also includes scholarly activities such as preparing manuscripts and presenting findings to the broader research community.

• Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims.
• Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research programs.
• Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program.
• Contributes to academic presentations, manuscripts, and grant writing activities.
• Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures.
• Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information.
• Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives.

• Experience in clinical research coordination or program management in an academic research environment.
• Experience with IRB submissions, protocol development, and research compliance.
• Experience working in social science or health care delivery science (e.g., implementation science, quality improvement, program evaluation, health services research, or closely related field).
• Experience in budget management, fiscal tracking, or financial reporting within a research or grant‑funded environment.
• Experience coordinating grant submission activities and preparing technical supporting documents.

• Experience with Implementation Science frameworks and methodologies, quality improvement, or change management.
• Familiarity with oncology, precision medicine, genomic testing, and clinical practice guidelines for oncology.
• Experience working with rural health systems or community-based organizations to address health disparities.
• Experience contributing to academic manuscripts, abstracts, or poster presentations.
• Certification in Lean Six Sigma or PMP.

Master’s degree in public health, nursing, education, administration, or a related field with related experience working in research or administration is required.

The expected salary range is $79,521 up to $107,664 for highly experienced candidates. Pay within this range depends on experience and qualifications. Benefits include generous vacation, holidays, sick leave; competitive insurances; savings accounts; and retirement plans.

Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m.–4:30p.m. The position may require a hybrid work schedule, with some duties performed on campus and some remotely.

The position is a trust role with access to vulnerable populations and requires a caregiver check under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law every four years, along with a standard criminal background check.
