The University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, Clinical Practice, Innovation and Research (CliPIR) Division invites applications for one 12-month position at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor, or Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The faculty member will join the Health Services Research in Pharmacy graduate faculty. Candidate research should advance these priority research areas
1) Large data science to guide care intervention development and evaluation related to pharmaco-epidemiology or pharmacoeconomics, and
2) Health system transformation and implementation related to pharmacy service evaluation and improvement. medication use safety and quality, patient-centered car, or patient-provider-centered outcomes. The ideal candidate would have methodological expertise in one or more of the following areas: quasi experimental/observational design; quantitative/mixed methods research; use of large datasets, biostatistics, and large-scale data science applications; or implementation science. Strategic growth priority areas include mental health, substance use and addiction, care of older adults, psychedelics research, and patient/provider use of AI.

Required Qualifications
  • Candidates at the assistant professor level are expected to demonstrate potential for establishing an independent and externally funded research program and teaching at the PharmD and graduate student level.
  • Candidates at the associate or full professor level are required to have demonstrated sustained extramural grant support, as well as research, scholarship, and teaching proficiency that meet the criteria for tenure and rank at University of Wisconsin-Madison and UW School of Pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications

Especially desirable are candidates whose work advances the following priority research areas:

  • Large data science to guide the development and evaluation of care interventions
    • Pharmaco-epidemiology
    • Pharmacoeconomics/health economics and outcomes research
  • Health system transformation and implementation
    • Pharmacy service evaluation and improvement
    • Medication use safety and quality
    • Patient-centered care and/or
    • Patient-provider-centered outcomes

The ideal candidate would have methodological expertise in one or more of the following areas: quasi experimental and observational designs; qualitative and mixed-methods research; large datasets to study medication use effectiveness and safety in real world populations; biostatistics and large data science; or use of implementation science frameworks or trials to implement and evaluate effectiveness of evidence-based practices associated with pharmacy or health systems transformation.

In addition, strategic priority areas for growth include mental health, substance use and addiction, care of older adults, psychedelics research, and patient/provider use of AI.

A background in pharmacy practice is desirable but not required. Other desirable attributes include: demonstrated mentoring of underrepresented scholars, proven ability to establish public and private sector research partnerships to implement existing or new innovations that advance and demonstrate the value of pharmacy practice, and experience with innovation co-design especially with underserved populations. The applicant should also have a history of successful internal and external grant submissions or grant writing experience, effective oral and written communication skills, effective team skills, and the ability to effectively interact with other academic departments or schools with whom we have active collaborations, such as the School of Medicine and Public Health, Nursing, and Industrial & Systems Engineering.
