Where You’ll Make a DifferenceThe Dementia Village Student Home Assistant provides direct care, supervision, and support to residents in a Community‑Based Residential Facility (CBRF) dementia village setting. This role focuses on person‑centered care, promoting dignity, independence, and meaningful engagement. Student Home Assistants support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), assist with household tasks, contribute to a homelike environment, and actively engage residents in daily routines and meaningful activities.
Key Responsibilities- Review resident care plans and plan daily activities according to the assigned household
- Assist with ambulation, mobility, and transfers to/from sitting and standing
- Assist with bathroom functions, including toileting and incontinence care
- Assist with eating and drinking as needed
- Assist with showering and dressing, when scheduled
- Distribute medications as delegated by the dementia village registered nurse in compliance with DHS
83 regulations - Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing or supervisory staff
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policy and resident care plan
- Provide daily housekeeping and laundry support
- Administer medications as directed by a physician
- Socialize and engage with residents through games, photos, reading, and other activities
- Assist with setting up activities and ensuring resident participation in scheduled dementia village club activities
- Assist with grocery shopping and meal planning & preparation, encouraging resident participation and promoting socialization, autonomy, and purpose
- Allow residents to live as normally as possible despite their dementia diagnosis
- Report unusual incidents to the neighborhood leader
- Complete mandatory education requirements
- Greet internal and external customers in a timely and friendly manner
- Participate in monthly drills
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and work experience
- Enrolled in an accredited health program
- Minimum 2.5 GPA and good academic standing
- Proof of enrollment, class schedule, and transcripts
- Previous caregiving, homemaking, or personal care work preferred but not required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Willingness to adhere to DHS
83 regulations and training requirements
- Free housing:
Private room and bath, utilities, internet, parking, and laundry - $100 per week food stipend
- Hands‑on training
