The Pyle Center is seeking a Catering Assistant Manager to join our award‑winning team. Overlooking the scenic shores of Lake Mendota, our center hosts meetings, conferences, and events year‑round. In this role you will lead the staff responsible for delivering exceptional, full‑service catering and bar operations – ranging from coffee breaks to elegantly plated dinners.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership:
Train, supervise, and mentor catering staff, including students and full‑time employees. - Operations & Bar Service:
Oversee bar service operations and ensure full compliance and high standards. - Scheduling:
Assist in scheduling staff efficiently to match event demands. - Guest
Experience:
Ensure excellent customer service and overall satisfaction for all catered events.
Your schedule will vary week to week depending on our event calendar, with this position primarily scheduled to cover afternoon and evening events. A successful candidate will have proven experience leading others and a passion for providing excellent customer service.
Physical DemandsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently needed.
Work Schedule and Location100% onsite, variable schedule including nights and weekends to support events.
AdditionalJob Responsibilities
- Assists with unit budget monitoring, inventory management, and staff training.
- Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities.
- Selects, develops, implements, and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations.
- Develops, implements, and oversees workflow components; assigns and coordinates day‑to‑day activities of food service staff.
- Monitors adherence to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures; identifies needs and makes recommendations for improvement to leadership.
The expected starting annual wage is $57,500. Required Qualifications- 6 months of food service experience in a supervisory or lead position.
- Experience working in an establishment that serves alcohol.
- Serv Safe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- City of Madison Alcohol Operator License required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
