Business Internship
Overview
This internship will immerse you in essential areas such as talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and navigating human resource information systems, all while gaining invaluable hands‑on experience that will propel your HR career forward.
Job Duties- Enters, reviews, and processes HR transactions including student hires according to established policies and procedures.
- Creates, completes and maintains various HR processes, reports, databases, and/or records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and legal rules and regulations. Duties include, but not limited to, performance evaluations, I‑9 verification, background screening, and youth compliance.
- Assists with essential HR functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, benefits administration, and compliance.
- Serves as a point of contact to 1,200+ employees, managers, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Receives and responds to inquiries in‑person, via email, and through various communication mediums and relays information to appropriate entities.
Required
- Pursuing a Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or a related degree
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with others in a timely and professional manner.
Preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- UW‑Madison work study eligible
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analysis, technology, problem‑solving, critical thinking, time management, record‑keeping and organization skills.
- Skilled at navigating ambiguity and excelling in a dynamic, complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and proactively tackle challenges with a go‑getter attitude.
Minimum: 10 hours. Maximum: 30 hours.
ScheduleAcademic Year: 10‑15 hours per week.
Winter, or Spring Break: 30‑40 hours per week.
Hourly RateMinimum: $17.50.
