Tribe 9 Foods is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll / HR Specialist to join our team. This role is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll while supporting a variety of Human Resources functions.
The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. This position works closely with employees, managers, and various departments to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficient HR operations.
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday; occasional weekend work and overtime may be required.
1st Shift: 8 am - 4 pm, flexible start times.
Key Responsibilities:Payroll Administration (Primary Responsibility)
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees and weekly payroll for temporary staff.
- Review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Process wage garnishments, child support orders, and other payroll deductions.
- Audit benefit invoices and reconcile payroll-related deductions.
- Process payroll-related general ledger entries.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Maintain employee records and personnel files.
- Assist with onboarding and employee documentation.
- Coordinate HR projects, meetings, training sessions, and employee surveys.
- Prepare reports and provide HR-related data to management.
- Respond to employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Partner with the Health & Safety team on departmental initiatives.
- Assist with compliance and recordkeeping requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience required.
- HR experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll practices and employment compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

This position is primarily office-based within a manufacturing environment. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use a computer, and communicate with employees and management. Occasional movement throughout the production facility may be required to support employee relations, training, investigations, and other HR-related activities.
The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Work is performed in both office and manufacturing settings. While in the production area, the employee may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, moving equipment, and other conditions commonly associated with a manufacturing environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required, and all safety policies and procedures must be followed.
