The UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is a leader in research and innovation, dedicated to improving patient outcomes through advanced data science and analytics. We are seeking an experienced Industry Liaison to contribute to our new Wisconsin Health Data Hub (WHDH) recently funded by the EDA as part of the Tech Hub ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) initiative and drive transformative data science projects to enhance healthcare and research orting to the Senior Director--Office of Biohealth Industry Partnerships and supporting the Wisconsin Health Data Hub Program (WHDH), the primary expectation of this role is to support and help build relationships between WHDH Program and private-sector companies in the life sciences, health, biotechnology, and biomedical research sectors.

These comprehensive relationships will include, but are not limited to partnerships, sponsorship or funding opportunities and technology transfer. This role will be measured by engagement of new industry partners and alignment with key WHDH product and service offerings. In addition, this role will support key strategic initiatives, as needed: WHDH Product launch, presale demonstration, engaging possible industry partners and collaborators.

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

  • It is an expectation the finalist will have permanent residence within the State of Wisconsin. Successful applicants who do not currently live in Wisconsin must have plans to move to the state within a reasonable time from the position start date.

  • Must provide a valid driver's license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage.   • Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, will be given first consideration

    • Knowledge of differences between higher education and private sector/industry processes, governance and decision making

    • Knowledge of precision medicine or research/academic institutions

    • Excellent planning and follow through skills

    • Strong speaking and presentation skills in small groups and large forums

    • Ability to work in a collaborative environment supporting multiple groups

    • Ability to work with and influence faculty, department chairs and Deans, C- and VP-level executives and administrators

Key

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of training programs targeting both internal and external audiences in the areas of biomedical research, biotechnology, biohealth data and other related areas to the WHDH
  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • Evaluates existing strategies and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement
  • Manage portfolio of company engagements, collaborate with partners, affiliates, and centers/units to deliver the best opportunities to develop and expand company relationships and investments across the WHDH and SMPH
  • Monitors portfolio activity and market share and disseminates updates to leadership and appropriate entities
  • Support the proposal, drafting and implementation of new policies and procedures that facilitate industry partnerships or biomedical research with the WHDH
  • Plans and directs staff implementation of new and existing business outreach events, programs, communications, and research activities
