Job Summary: The UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is a leader in research and innovation, dedicated to improving patient outcomes through advanced data science and analytics. We are seeking an experienced Industry Liaison to contribute to our new Wisconsin Health Data Hub (WHDH) recently funded by the EDA as part of the Tech Hub initiative. The role reports to the Senior Director—Office of Biohealth Industry Partnerships and supports the WHDH, with the primary expectation of building and managing relationships between WHDH and private-sector companies in the life sciences, health, biotechnology, and biomedical research sectors.

Relationships include partnerships, sponsorship or funding opportunities, and technology transfer. The role will be measured by engagement of new industry partners and alignment with WHDH product and service offerings, and will support key strategic initiatives as needed (WHDH Product launch, presale demonstration, engaging possible industry partners and collaborators).

Responsibilities and Requirements

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of training programs targeting internal and external audiences in the areas of biomedical research, biotechnology, biohealth data and related areas to the WHDH
  • Identify, propose, and implement new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • Evaluate existing strategies and make recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement
  • Manage portfolio of company engagements, collaborate with partners, affiliates, and centers/units to deliver opportunities to develop and expand company relationships and investments across the WHDH and SMPH
  • Monitor portfolio activity and market share and disseminate updates to leadership and appropriate entities
  • Support the drafting and implementation of new policies and procedures that facilitate industry partnerships or biomedical research with the WHDH
  • Plan and direct staff implementation of new and existing business outreach events, programs, communications, and research activities
  • Support marketing of WHDH services to industry partners and funders by attending relevant functions or events

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of industry or academic medicine experience in data science research or biotechnology/biohealth data
  • Experience working across stakeholder groups to deliver intended outcomes
  • Experience in prospect identification, relationship cultivation, management and development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in higher education

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
