Carex is partnering with a financial services leader to identify a Scrum Master / Project Manager who brings a blended Agile and traditional project management skill set. This role will support technology and business initiatives by facilitating Agile delivery while also providing structured project planning, governance, and stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in hybrid delivery models, acting as a servant leader to Agile teams while ensuring projects remain aligned to business objectives, timelines, and governance expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

Agile / Scrum Leadership
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Serve as a servant leader to delivery teams, coaching on Agile and Scrum principles to promote self‑organization and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Product Owners to support backlog prioritization, refinement, and readiness.
  • Remove impediments and manage dependencies to ensure steady delivery and team focus.
  • Track and report Agile metrics (velocity, burndown, capacity, sprint health) to support transparency and planning.
  • Foster strong team collaboration and psychological safety.
Project Management & Governance
  • Plan, execute, and manage projects of low to medium complexity, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, and issues.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and status reporting.
  • Manage project intake, requirements, and change control processes.
  • Prepare materials and support project governance, leadership updates, and steering committee reviews.
  • Monitor project progress against objectives and elevate risks or issues as needed.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional resources across technology, business, and vendor teams.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
  • Act as a primary point of contact for business and technology stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into actionable delivery plans and timelines.
  • Balance competing priorities while ensuring alignment across teams and initiatives.
  • Support release planning and delivery coordination across Agile and non‑Agile teams.
  • Promote adoption of standard delivery practices, tools, and templates.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Coach teams and stakeholders on hybrid delivery models, Agile best practices, and project management disciplines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency, predictability, and quality.
  • Contribute to the evolution of delivery standards and ways of working.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Scrum Master and/or Project Manager role.
  • Hands‑on experience facilitating Agile/Scrum teams and managing project delivery concurrently.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid delivery models.
  • Demonstrated experience managing scope, schedules, risks, and dependencies.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross‑functional environment.
  • Proficiency with delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential job duties with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master, or similar Agile certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI-ACP certification.
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, or regulated environments.
  • Experience working with distributed or hybrid teams.
