The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for supporting and enhancing the organization's network security posture. This role focuses on the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security technologies including firewalls, endpoint protection solutions, and VPNs. The Cyber Security Engineer builds on foundational cybersecurity skills, demonstrating proficiency in network security concepts and tools, while continuing to develop advanced technical and analytical capabilities. The role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning within a dynamic security environment.

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities- Participate in the development, integration, and testing of cyber products
- Participate in the research, engineering, and integration of new security solutions
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the security systems and solutions
- Build strong relationships with peers across functions through collaborative engineering operations and initiatives
- Participate in the design and implementation of automated solutions to enable security needs
- Manage, analyze and respond to changing system and data access needs of the company and its clients with agility and flexibility
- Basic understanding of network security principles, protocols, and architectures
- Familiarity with Palo Alto firewall configuration, management, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with endpoint protection platforms
- Knowledge of VPN technologies and secure remote access solutions
- Awareness of threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and incident response processes
- Basic understanding of intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
- Ability to implement and enforce security policies and procedures
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation and collaborating with team members
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast‑paced environment

Additional Information- All employees participate in New Employee Orientation during the first week. This session is held in person at our Madison, WI Headquarters or one of our AmFam core locations to help you connect with our mission, meet key team members and build relationships that support your growth. Sessions may be delivered virtually based on scheduling and availability.

In this flex office/home role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations:
Madison, WI 53783;
Boston, MA 02110. Candidates must reside within a 50‑mile radius of the office location (or 35‑mile radius for Boston / Chicago).
