Invenra is seeking a highly motivated Programmer or Engineer to join our Bioinformatics team, reporting to our Senior Engineer – Team Manager, Bioinformatics. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of protein chemistry, antibody discovery and software development to support research and development efforts by building tools, supporting infrastructure build‑out, sample tracking and assisting with developing data analytics approaches and presenting data summaries internally.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with laboratory scientists to automate tasks, build workflows, and develop tools to ease analysis, improve efficiency, and reduce error.
- Analyze raw data from various inputs including protein modeling, sequencing, binding assays, chromatography, immunoassays, and others.
- Develop pipelines for high throughput data analysis and entry into a LIMS database.
- Develop software tools for scientists to create reports or use robotics platforms.
- Interpret and analyze results from large data queries and present those interpretations to the teams.
- Harmonize experimental results and build concise, easy‑to‑interpret reports and figures, experience with R, Spotfire, Tableau, or other visualization software.
- Create presentations for use as marketing materials by working directly with scientists in communication with existing or potential clients.
- Assist in the implementation of sample tracking tools and instrument integrations into the database or LIMS.
- Participate as an active representative for bioinformatics in interdisciplinary working groups; communicate resources, timelines, and priorities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
- BS in Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, or a related field with minimum of five (5+) years of total experience in an industry role in the wet lab as well as supporting software development, data analytics, or other informatics disciplines.
- Relational database experience with in depth knowledge of laboratory analytics processes and how to organize incoming data.
- In depth knowledge of data structures, handling large datasets, and building analysis pipelines.
- Experience with building scripts for data processing and exporting those tools and results to other researchers on a team.
- Experience with at least one software programming language (Python is preferred). Familiarity with best practices for collaborative software development is considered a plus.
- Experience creating and deploying apps with react, flask, canvas, or other tools.
- Comfortable working with REST APIs.
- Comfortable working with unix, linux, and PC.
- Enthusiasm to learn new methods and a deep curiosity of immunology and medical outcomes.
- Proven ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities and deliver results.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with AWS.
- Dev Ops:
Managing software upgrade lifecycle and deploying software updates to users, coordinating with our IT department. - Exposure to the use of computational tools for the purpose of understanding relationships between sequence, structure, and function for peptides, DNA and RNA.
- Experience with instrumentation integration and robotics / automation pipelines.
