Job Title
The client Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) was created by the legislature in 1870, vested with broad powers to ensure that the insurance industry responsibly and adequately met the insurance needs of client citizens. Today, OCI's mission is to protect and educate client consumers by maintaining and promoting a strong insurance industry.
OCI Information Technology (OCI IT) supports and manages the many Windows Servers that host various web-based applications for the benefit of OCI. OCI IT is looking for an additional experienced Server Administrator, Systems Engineer III, to support, maintain, and upgrade our Windows Servers, while also proactively developing a modernization roadmap.
Required:
- At least 13 years of experience with Windows Server Administration, performing and supporting upgrades of server software, application software.
- The ability to be a value-add resource by being proactive and applying analytical and critical thinking to work toward a successful outcome, not just following a list of steps.
- Maintenance of Tomcat and Apache instances on the servers.
- Experience with Jfrog Artifactory;
Bit Bucket and Bamboo;
Jira. - Experience with server and application monitoring software.
- Analyze and make recommendations for modernization.
- Inventory all server software and develop and implement a roadmap for upgrades, modernization, consolidation.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify root cause.
- Strong SDLC best practices.
- General knowledge of database best practices.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal (phone/video) and written (email).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and task management skills.
Strongly Desired:
- Tableau;
Java;
NodeJS/ViewJS; SQL Scripting. - Alteryx or other ETL tools.
- Alfresco (for Document Management);
Perfect Forms. - State and/or Local Government work history.
- Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid SDLC (and the ability to determine the best approach given a business need).
High quality support of servers with minimal oversight. Select and implement server and application monitoring software. Create an inventory of all server software and tools and develop a roadmap with a repeatable process to ensure all are upgraded on a regular basis. User support and triage of issues, and timely resolution of assigned tickets. The ability to be a value-add resource by being proactive and applying analytical and critical thinking to work toward a successful outcome, not just following a list of steps.
Identifying patterns of tickets to isolate true root cause and propose solutions and/or changes. Communication of important updates and/or necessary changes to Management, where appropriate. Recommendation for design improvements to existing solutions. Standard development environment requirements, to include documentation and task tracking. Support for other OCI IT team initiatives as needed.
