The Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS) at the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) manages the technology and computer infrastructure that drives the Agency’s business systems. The IT department manages infrastructure and software that supports the WHS Headquarters building, the State Archives Preservation Facility (SAPF), and twelve Historic Sites around the State. This position reports to the Deputy IT Director and works closely with IT team members, facilities & maintenance staff, site leadership, key internal stakeholders such as the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), and external partners including the Department of Administration’s (DOA) Division of Enterprise Technology (DET), providing expertise and support for a variety of complex technical and network solutions.
The Network Analyst II position is a highly technical role responsible for overseeing and managing multiple competing projects, championing the modernization of agency infrastructure, and helping to define ongoing support procedures including life cycle planning for critical infrastructure, facilities, or building technologies. Additionally, this role requires hands-on physical technology work, not limited to running cables, mounting equipment, installing hardware, and assisting with infrastructure projects.
While not directly responsible for network administration, the Network Analyst II plays a key part in identifying, troubleshooting, and coordinating solutions for network issues in partnership with IT leadership and external service providers.
Working both independently and as part of project teams, the Network Analyst II collaborates with senior technicians, external vendors, and program area stakeholders to ensure the reliable operation of infrastructure technologies across multiple locations while providing guidance regarding agency network systems, building automation controls, and life-safety technologies including best practices, industry standards, code compliance, and implementation procedures.
