IT Business Analyst, Business Systems & Technology Analysis, Systems Analyst
Carex is partnering with a Utility industry partner to hire a Business Systems Analyst who will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, operational teams, software vendors, and Information Technology. This role will analyze business processes, define and manage requirements, support enterprise system implementations, and drive continuous improvement across business-critical applications.
Working within an Agile environment, the Business Systems Analyst will help ensure systems effectively support operational objectives, deliver business value, and meet organizational and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, along with experience supporting enterprise applications and complex technology initiatives.
What You'll Do- Partner with business stakeholders to identify needs, analyze processes, document requirements, and translate business objectives into actionable user stories and functional specifications.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, process analysis workshops, and solution reviews with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle to maintain alignment between business expectations and delivered solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Service Owners, developers, vendors, and Scrum teams to refine priorities, scope, requirements, and deliverables.
- Support Agile activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, user story development, and acceptance criteria definition.
- Track and communicate user story progress, project milestones, risks, dependencies, and implementation activities.
- Monitor business systems to help ensure applications operate reliably and as intended.
- Analyze incidents, system issues, and enhancement requests to identify root causes and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Develop test strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria for new functionality and system enhancements.
- Lead and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate solutions against business requirements, and support defect management and issue resolution.
- Develop and maintain training materials, user documentation, process documentation, and operational procedures.
- Support end-user adoption through communication, training, and ongoing system support.
- Contribute to business cases and recommendations for system enhancements, process improvements, and technology initiatives.
- Support regulatory, security, audit, data governance, and applicable compliance requirements.
- Establish and maintain standards and controls that help ensure business systems operate at acceptable levels of quality and service.
- Participate in on-call support activities as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, requirements management, product management, program management, software development, software testing, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications and business-critical operational systems.
- Strong knowledge of business analysis, requirements management, and Agile methodologies.
- Experience developing user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience planning and coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT), software testing, and quality assurance activities.
- Knowledge of system integration, systems design, system performance monitoring, and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience working with reporting tools, database queries, workflow modeling, and test automation tools.
- Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and facilitate cross-functional teams on complex technology initiatives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately manage sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently while fostering effective collaboration across business and IT teams.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), engineering analysis and planning tools, asset management systems, or utility operations and work management processes is preferred.
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts and Service Level Agreement (SLA) management is beneficial.
