Convergent Science, an innovative and rapidly growing company in the engineering simulation software market, is seeking a creative Web/Digital Designer to join our team. This is a full-time, in-person position based at our Madison, WI office.
The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of digital design principles and experience creating engaging visuals for B2B audiences. You'll translate complex engineering concepts into clear, visually compelling web experiences, working under the Creative Team Lead and alongside our Marketing and Web Development team to design and implement website features that align with our campaigns and digital strategy.
Our Creative team (part of the larger Marketing team) turns highly technical content into award-winning design work that engages both existing customers and potential clients. We're based in Madison, Wisconsin, and collaborate regularly with colleagues in Detroit, Houston, Linz (Austria), and Pune (India), so strong virtual communication and collaboration skills are a must.
Responsibilities Maintenance & Existing Sites- Maintain and update all existing web properties, ensuring content, design, and functionality stay current
- Monitor sites for visual, functional, or usability issues and resolve them as they arise
- Maintain and organize web assets in the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system
- Design new websites, pages, or web properties as needed
- Design and prep assets (images, graphics, icons) for new pages, blog posts, and campaigns on existing sites
- Create landing pages and other on-brand digital assets to support marketing initiatives
- Optimize site design and assets for SEO best practices
- Optimize content and structure for AI-driven search and discovery (e.g., structured data, semantic markup, AI-readable content formatting)
- Track and analyze website metrics (traffic, engagement, conversion) to inform design decisions and improvements
- Establish and maintain layout, color palette, typography, and visual themes across web properties
- Design intuitive navigation and information architecture
- Ensure sites are accessible and user-friendly
- Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately
- Work with Marketing and Creative teams to maintain brand consistency across all digital assets
- Present design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback
- Provide occasional non-web-based design support on projects for the Creative team
- Design digital ads and banners
- Create motion graphics and infographics
- Support social media asset production and maintenance of social media channels
- Contribute to software interface design
- Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.)
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, and color theory
- Experience with responsive and mobile-first web design
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Understanding of UX/UI principles and information architecture
- Experience maintaining and updating live websites
- Familiarity with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and organized file/asset management
- Knowledge of SEO best practices (on-page optimization, metadata, structured data)
- Familiarity with optimizing content for AI-driven search and discovery (e.g., semantic markup, structured data, AI-readable formatting)
- Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Matomo or similar) to monitor and report on site performance
- Experience with content management systems
- Ability to design and prep production-ready assets (images, icons, graphics) for web and blog content
- Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and incorporate stakeholder feedback
- Comfort with standard office and productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Asana, or similar project management software)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to work effectively with coworkers across disciplines
- Bachelor's degree in Web/Graphic Design or related field
- 3+ years of web/digital design experience
- Experience designing for B2B or technical/engineering industries preferred
- Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 annually
