* Job Summary:

*
* Acts as a liaison between English and limited-English speaking guests, staff and patients/families by providing oral interpretation, (LIMITED) written translation services, as well as staff education and training.  Provides support and serves as a resource for other department functions.

** Job Responsibilities and Requirements:*
* PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Interprets for patients, families and staff in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings. Forms of interpreting may include face to face, telephonic and video remote interpreting.

+ Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.

+ Provides (LIMITED) translation of written documents, correspondence and patient education materials.

+ Assists in explaining language access requirements/obligations and the cultural needs of diverse patient populations.

+ Assists in the orientation and onboarding of new members of the regional language services team.

+ Trains employees on regulatory requirements and the use of interpreter services through formal and informal training.

+ Coordinates, prioritizes and organizes daily activities to ensure effective support is provided to the staff and patients.

+ Actively participates in department work groups and improvement initiatives.

+ Strictly adheres to the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and the Interpreter's Code of Ethics.

+ Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

+ High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience

EXPERIENCE

+ One-year experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

+ Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

+ Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

+ Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

+ Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

+ Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

+ Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

+ Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

+ Rare climbing.
