Overview

Supply Chain Operations Associate – Tonawanda, NY. Join the Ryder Supply Chain Solutions division as an exempt, salaried associate responsible for operational functions, material availability, and inventory control.

Pay Type:

Exempt / Salary paid weekly. Annual Salary: $50,000.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday 03:30pm–12:00am with flexibility to work overtime Saturday or Sunday as needed. The position may also be eligible for annual bonus, commission, or long‑term incentive plan based on level and type.

• Follow up all purchased parts to ensure shipment and on‑time delivery performance to support production requirements.
• Serve as main point of contact for all suppliers, providing guidance on ship‑schedule requirements and containment plans.
• Make independent decisions on timing for supplier ship schedules, including push, pull, and expediting material based on inventory coverage at the plant.
• Track critical parts and develop/execute containment plans to prevent interruptions or downtime on the manufacturing line, including decisions on mode and required delivery window.
• Coordinate or arrange alternative sources of material and request spot buys as needed (SPO and other GM Plants).
• Independently monitor, set up, and cancel truck loads for material pick‑up to support schedule variations.
• Ensure proper material coverage at lowest possible cost.
• Review part buffers and confirm they cover build requirements (Metal Centers and Powertrain).
• Document and manage S and AV code exceptions (Assembly Plants) including alarm interval maintenance.
• Determine root cause and take corrective action.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels in MGO, make appropriate adjustments.
• Make judgments on posting inventory adjustments based on investigation and analysis.
• Investigate and process any record adjustment requests from the previous shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1 year or more in administrative experience (preferred).
• 1 year or more in relevant experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of MGO (GM's MRP system) – intermediate.
• Knowledge of transportation management – intermediate.
• Knowledge of material flow related to manufacturing processes – intermediate.
• Ability to create and maintain professional relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to operate and self‑driven to excel in a fast‑paced environment.
• Capable of multi‑tasking, highly organized, with strong time‑management skills.
• Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible with work schedule, capable of overtime Saturday or Sunday as needed.
