Job Summary

UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) is seeking an organized and proactive Hospital Inventory Clerk to join our Central Supply team. In this vital role, you will serve as the backbone of our clinical operations, ensuring that life-saving medical supplies, materials, and equipment are accurately tracked, stocked, and delivered to veterinary teams across the hospital. Your attention to detail directly impacts our ability to provide world-class care to our animal patients every day.

This full‑time position offers a stable weekday schedule, predictable hours, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference behind the scenes of a premier veterinary teaching hospital.

Schedule

Monday‑Friday, 8AM‑5PM, with 1‑hour, unpaid lunch

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Shelves inventory and maintains organization (30%)
  • Generates inventory reports to account for available stock and usage (10%)
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders following established vendor procurement procedures (10%)
  • Inspects and inventories received items and processes notifications to appropriate entities (30%)
  • Accurately pick, pack, and manage the daily distribution of medical supplies to various clinical units and specialty services throughout the hospital (10%)
  • Monitor inventory par levels across Central Supply and Omnicell locations, making strategic adjustments to prevent stockouts and support seamless hospital workflows (10%)

The starting hourly rate for the position is $19.00/hour (but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications).

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year experience ordering and managing inventory
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds independently
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull loaded stock carts (weighing up to 100+ lbs on wheels) for extended periods throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to safely manipulate boxes, use box cutters, handle barcode scanners, and unpack fragile or specialized medical supplies.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, web browsers, and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office/365, email, and digital forms).
  • Basic arithmetic skills to accurately count, verify shipment quantities, calculate par replenishment units, and perform stock reconciliations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience setting, monitoring, and optimizing inventory par levels in a high‑volume warehouse, healthcare, or retail setting to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Hands‑on experience using modern inventory management software or automated stock tracking applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of maintaining clean, efficient, and well‑categorized storage areas.
  • Quick learner with strong digital literacy, comfortable learning new software platforms, operating barcode/RFID scanners, and maintaining accurate digital records.
  • Prior experience managing inventory, medical supplies, or pharmaceuticals in a hospital, clinical, or veterinary environment.
