Custodian

Position Summary

As the Custodian, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks ies include, but are not limited to, operating automatic cleaning equipment, such as automatic scrubbers, sweepers, and wall washers, wet/dry vacuums, and carpet cleaning equipment; stripping and sealing of floors; cleaning of toilets, showers and furniture; shoveling snow; and replacing light bulbs.

Salary Information

The starting salary is $16.67 per hour, plus excellent benefits. There is a $.80 night differential and a $.80 weekend differential, which will be combined for $1.60 when working nights on weekends. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. These positions are in pay schedule and range 03/08.

A $2,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have prior state service in the last five years; who stay with CWC in the position until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,000 upon hire and $1,000 after completing probation.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to these positions will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the center prior to their start date.

These positions have physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, and twisting. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:

* Ability to work scheduled hours as needed, which may include weekends, holidays, early morning or early evenings, and overtime as needed.

* Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and able to accept work assignment changes as needed.

* Ability to follow proper safety standards when using chemical cleaning agents.

* Ability to use cleaning tools and appropriate sanitizing procedures.
