Overview
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role leads daily warehouse activities, supervises staff, and maintains inventory accuracy while promoting a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement in shipping and receiving processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and motivate the shipping and receiving team to achieve high standards in safety, quality, and productivity
. - Execute daily operational plans and schedules to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
- Assign work based on capacity and demand, setting clear and measurable performance expectations.
- Coordinate truck scheduling and load planning to maximize space utilization, optimize equipment use, and control transportation costs.
- Administer company policies and procedures consistently, ensuring timely and accurate completion of required reports.
- Proactively identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback, coaching, and development to team members.
- Apply corrective action when necessary to support continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Ensure all personnel actions comply with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) principles.
- Supervise custodial and warehouse housekeeping functions to maintain a clean, safe, and professional facility.
- Schedule and oversee required training, including forklift, web sling, and scissor lift certifications.
- Promote continuous improvement across key areas including shipping performance, housekeeping, safety compliance, labor utilization, employee engagement, ISO 9001 standards, MQPs, and overall quality.
- Ensure all inbound and outbound shipments meet quality standards and are free from damage.
- Maintain 100% on-time delivery performance by closely managing shipping schedules and priorities.
- Directly supervise both Over-the-Road and Short Run Drivers to ensure compliance, safety, and performance expectations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational success.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading and scheduling shipping and receiving operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks throughout the work shift.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds; heavier items require assistance or use of appropriate material handling equipment.
- Proficiency with personal computers and relevant software, including shipping systems and scheduling tools.
- Current forklift certification, or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Demonstrated ability to train others in safe and effective forklift operation.
