Job SummaryUniversity Housing is looking for a Building Services Supervisor to join our University Housing Facilities team! This is a supervisory role that leads and oversees the work of Custodial Staff and Facilities Technicians, ensuring facilities are properly maintained for residence halls, apartments, and/or dining locations.
Qualified candidates possess previous custodial experience and at least two years of experience as a direct supervisor of employees. Work Schedule- The primary schedule for this position is Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am - 5:00pm.
- Occasional weekends based on operational needs with some opportunity to flex your schedule.
- Work schedule will be set with selected finalist(s) at time of offer. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.
- Implements the use of and provides training for new supplies/equipment to ensure adequate utilization.
- Identifies work unit resource needs, manages workflow components, schedules logistics and secures resources for the completion of established projects by internal and external entities.
- Identifies, develops and implements facility emergency and hazardous response policies and procedures to align with institutional safety rules and regulations.
- Develops, implements, and schedules operational work plans of staff for one or multiple projects or work units.
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.
Division of University Housing, University Housing Facilities
University Housing Facilities is a part of the Division of University Housing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and focuses on building services, mechanical maintenance, and long-term infrastructure projects and planning. As a student service organization, University Housing Facilities provides quality living/learning environments to approximately 8,000 undergraduate student residents during the academic year and 18,000 guests in the summer months. Additionally, they serve the University Apartments community, which is approximately 3,000 residents in 1,240 apartments on 83 acres.
University Residence Halls consists of 30 buildings containing approximately 2 million square feet and 37 acres of surrounding grounds. In addition to residential living spaces the residence hall infrastructure supports many functions and programs requiring many types of spaces such as classrooms, office space, dining and culinary space including commercial kitchens and marketplace areas, mechanical support spaces and large meeting rooms.
CompensationThe starting annual salary is $58,000 or higher based on qualifications with a competitive retirement and benefits package, including vacation, holidays, and paid time off. Benefits information can be found at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). This is a full-time position.
Required Qualifications- Minimum 2 years of experience as a direct supervisor of employees.
- At least 6 months of custodial experience in institutional, educational, hospitality, retail, events or related settings.
- Ability to demonstrate a proficiency in basic computer skills (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Three or more years of supervision experience.
- 1 year or more of custodial or maintenance experience.
High School diploma preferred.
