Director, Proposals
Location:
United States (Remote eligible). Position Type:
Full-Time.
Work Schedule:
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, Hybrid – 3 days in office, St. Louis, MO or Brentwood, TN.
The Director, Proposals will lead and grow a team of proposal development and management professionals who are accountable for preparing strategic customer‑focused proposal content, including written proposals and other sales‑related documents for a variety of client audiences. The Director will participate in the analysis and discernment of Request for Proposal (RFP) opportunities to help the organization optimize resource allocation in response to proposal requests.
By leveraging both quantitative and qualitative insights, the Director, Proposals is accountable for ensuring that the Proposal team prepares accurate, timely, clear, and concise responses that effectively communicate Archimedes best‑in‑class pharmacy benefit solutions. This role will oversee both the written components of proposals and the financial outcomes, as well as the methodologies used to develop proposal savings estimates and guarantees. The Director also assists the department in terms of staffing structure, recruiting, engaging, developing, and retaining the talent needed to deliver on established goals and priorities.
ResponsibilitiesHow do I make an impact on my team?
- Participate in the analysis and discernment of opportunities to ensure the effective use of resources dedicated to proposal development.
- Oversee proposal content management library and templates ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date information.
- Provide the Sales team with consultative support on the development and execution of targeted and opportunity‑specific strategies to enhance the company's competitive advantage.
- Lead Archimedes client acquisition and retention efforts, specific to RFPs, Requests for Information, Best and Final Offers, client retention bids, and other support and sales‑related documents.
- Provide support and guidance to staff related to performance guarantees and best practices.
- Oversee financial savings model outcomes and performance guarantee offerings for RFPs, ensuring accuracy and alignment with clinical and broader business strategies.
- Identify performance guarantee risks and trends.
- Ensure appropriate collaboration between the Proposal team and subject matter experts across the enterprise.
- Support project coordination (e.g., planning, scheduling, organizing, and coordination), follow‑up correspondence, and reporting.
- Maintain a deep understanding and continuously develop knowledge of the company's sales strategies, target markets, and trends in those markets and how the company's products and services are or may be utilized to meet and exceed clients’ needs in the target markets.
- Provide guidance and leadership to direct reports and other team members to achieve aligned results.
- Lead and inspire high‑performing teams by providing strategic direction, aligning talent and resources with organizational goals, and driving operational excellence across key initiatives.
- Mentor and develop team members through coaching, feedback, and career planning, building a strong pipeline of future leaders and supporting professional growth.
- Establish and nurture a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring teams deliver innovative, high‑quality solutions that meet business needs.
- Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance, people and culture, and learning programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive experience and expertise in business proposal development required.
- 2 years of experience in the health plan, PBM, or healthcare industry required.
- 2+ years of leadership experience with a proven ability to develop high‑performing teams and deliver tangible results in a professional services environment required.
- Large project management experience required.
