Job Summary:
The Director of Operations supports the VP of Operations in planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing operational departments (measuring, purchasing, fleet, administration and scheduling) in the Central division of the organization, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization.
Essential Functions:- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company backlog and conversion goals through ensuring efficient pre-install backlog flow that meets both, budgeted conversion rates and current forecast flow needs.
- Collaborate with other divisions and departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline processes and use of resources and materials.
- Work with the VP of Operations to ensure that operational department decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
- Work with the VP of Operations to establish and administer the budget for operational departments.
- Present performance reports and metrics to the Vice President of Operations and other leaders.
- Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Recruit, interview, hire and train (or aligns with an appropriate trainer) staff of various departments where management‑level staff is not in place.
- Determine and or assists with determining number of staff needed, utilizing FP&A and the budget in applicable departments through communication with management‑level staff.
- Oversee the daily workflow/Pre‑install backlog of all applicable departments.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations to direct reports, their departments, and executive leadership.
- Handles discipline and terminations of employees following company policy.
- When a Measure Tech Manager is not in place both the Director of Operations and VP of Operations will interview candidates either together, or as an initial/secondary interview process.
- When a Measure Tech Manager is not in place the Director of Operations will be responsible to do a two‑week review in person or by phone of all Measure Tech Candidates to assess the initial training and knowledge base as to decide what and how much if any further training is needed and with whom further training should be conducted.
- When an Ordering Manager is not in place both the Director of Operations and VP of Operations will interview candidates either together or as an initial/secondary interview process.
- Director of Operations is responsible for answering technical related questions from the Measuring, Permitting, Scheduling, Ordering, Service, Production and Installation department as it relates to efficient and quality installation, when it exceeds the knowledge base of the manager directly or indirectly in place of said departments or whereas a manager, is not in place of the said department directly or indirectly.
- VP of Operations is to assist Director of Operations from a budgeting or replacement standpoint as to the quantity of Production, Service, and Field Staff needed through the communication of known back end efficiencies or skillset shortfall.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or another industry‑related field required.
- At least 5 years of industry‑related experience including three years in upper management required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
