Job Description:
Madison College is seeking experienced independent professionals to establish a pool of Organizational Ombuds Consultants who will provide confidential, impartial, informal, and independent conflict resolution and consultation services to Madison College employees.
These consultants are not employees of Madison College and do not report within the college's organizational structure. They operate as independent contractors and provide an external, neutral resource available to employees seeking assistance with workplace concerns, conflict resolution, communication challenges, organizational issues, and professional relationships.
The Organizational Ombuds Consultant provides employees with a confidential place to discuss concerns, explore options, navigate difficult workplace situations, and strengthen professional relationships through informal resolution processes.
Consultants will provide services on an as-needed basis and invoice the College monthly for approved services rendered.
Compensation:
This is an independent contractor (1099) opportunity. Compensation will be negotiated based on qualifications, experience, and organizational need. Applicants are asked to include their proposed hourly rate with their submission.
Scope of Services Consultants may:
Meet confidentially with employees to discuss workplace concerns.
Provide conflict coaching and communication coaching.
Help employees understand college policies, procedures, and available resources.
Refer employees to appropriate formal college processes when appropriate.
Identify systemic trends while protecting the confidentiality of individual visitors.
Provide an annual aggregate report of non-identifying themes and recommendations.
Consultants do not:
Conduct investigations.
Make administrative decisions.
Serve as advocates for individual employees or Madison College.
Provide legal representation.
Provide ongoing psychotherapy or clinical treatment.
Receive official notice on behalf of the College.
Minimum Qualifications Candidates should possess:
Current professional licensure as one of the following:
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Licensed Psychologist Attorney (J.D.) with Alternative Dispute Resolution experience
Other equivalent professional credentials demonstrate expertise in workplace conflict resolution.
ANDA minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following:
Organizational Ombuds practice
Workplace conflict management
Mediation Arbitration Restorative Practices Conflict coaching
Organizational consulting
Employee relations
Higher education administration
Organizational development
Preferred Qualifications Preference may be given to candidates with:
International Ombuds Association Foundations Certificate Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner (CO-OP)
Professional mediation certification
Restorative Practices certification
Arbitration certification
Trauma-informed conflict resolution training
Experience serving colleges, universities, healthcare organizations, government agencies, or large nonprofit organizations.

Ability to navigate highly sensitive matters.
Cultural humility and emotional intelligence.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Knowledge of organizational systems and workplace dynamics.
Ability to recognize systemic trends while protecting individual confidentiality.
Engagement Model Independent Contractor (1099)
Estimated utilization of approximately 50-100 hours annually per consultant
Virtual consultations with occasional in-person meetings as requested
Flexible scheduling
Monthly invoicing
