Weld Lead

Overview

Description

Summary: Lead team in manufacturing parts per plant specification in an accurate and timely manner utilizing weld machine centers.

• Set up machines and understand and change weld tips.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
• Read and understand blueprints prior to starting a project.
• Basic troubleshooting.
• Run all weld cells.
• Weld metals by using the appropriate materials for joining them.
• Rework responsibly, including addressing parts that have been flagged for rework.
• Check finished work to make sure it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints.
• Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.
• Routine checks.
• Partner with manager to review employee’s quality and performance as well as staffing needs.
• Train and serve as point of contact for the team on operations and processes of the weld area.
• Build fixtures when needed.
• Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Education and/or

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or one to three years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
