Manufacturing Technician Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician is responsible for preparing small batches of material for commercialization. This role involves working closely with a team to prioritize tasks and focus on two main processes: extracting enzymes from pig glands and utilizing laboratory equipment such as column chromatography and UV spectrophotometry to scale small-batch products for commercial readiness.
Responsibilities- Handle raw materials like pituitary glands and pig hearts, ensuring QA release and proper storage.
- Assist with production scheduling and verify material availability.
- Prepare and maintain the manufacturing area, including cleaning and changeovers.
- Execute pilot-scale and commercial processes such as extractions, mixing, and powder finishing.
- Operate equipment including processing tanks, temperature‑controlled vessels, vacuum/pressurized systems, and HMIs (touchscreen control systems).
- Monitor process parameters such as temperature and timing, following established procedures.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6+ months of experience in GMP or pharmaceutical settings.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Biotechnology field is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience within GMP or pharmaceutical environments is preferred.
- Proficiency in cleanroom operations, SOP adherence, laboratory work, aseptic techniques, production, and sanitization.
The work environment is a laboratory and pharmaceutical manufacturing setting with one large suite and 3‑4 smaller suites, including benchtops. Employees will work across the plant, which includes areas with three flights of stairs. The entire facility is located on one floor, spread across the SPL facility. The schedule involves weekdays from 11 pm to 7:30 am, with a transition to 2nd shift (3 pm to 11:30 pm) for the first three months.
Employees receive a schedule incentive and a 3rd shift differential. The position offers 160 hours of vacation and 40 hours of sick time (both pro‑rated based on hire date) and 9 paid holidays.
This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43,680.00 - $51,160.00/yr.
Employees are eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision on day 1 of employment. The company provides Basic Life insurance, Basic AD&D insurance along with Short‑term disability on all full‑time employees. Employees have the option to elect Voluntary Life, Voluntary AD&D along with Long‑term disability coverage. Health and Flexible spending account options. Full‑time employees can contribute to their 401k upon hire and are eligible for a company contribution.
