Job Summary

Tekni Plex is hiring Slitter Operators for our Madison, WI facility. The role involves operating the slitter while following customer quality specifications, ensuring dimensions, sizes of rolls, quantity, and print quality are accurate. The pay range is $20 to $24 per hour, based on experience.

Shift Schedule
  • 1st shift: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • 2nd shift: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • 3rd shift: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, Sunday to Friday
Responsibilities
  • Prepares finished product to ship according to customer requirements
  • Monitors and directs activities of the Slitter Assistant, providing guidance as needed
  • Trains Slitter Assistant to a comfortable level of proficiency to run through breaks and fill‑in as an operator as needed
  • Works with supervision, planning, and Quality to get rework completed efficiently
  • Ensures proper and accurate set‑up of the machine, including review of job folder and data on computer regarding the job
  • Uses hoist to hang rolls, reviews blueprints, and completes slitting checklist to obtain accurate customer specifications
  • Sets web guides and knives pursuant to customer specifications
  • Wipes rollers with alcohol, adjusts gauges, adjusts cores or spacers, and puts down arms on slitter
  • Prepares machine (checks specifications) for next job by reviewing job folder and data on computer
  • Ensures machine operates according to process specifications
  • Monitors for wrinkles, voids, print quality, and fisheyes during the current job run
  • Records sets on AS400 and daily totals on scoreboards as required
  • Sets footage counter, hangs rolls, cuts out press stops and splices
  • Cut cores as required, takes sets off slitter, and puts cores on slitter
  • Obtains and delivers samples as agreed upon to the lab for Quality Assurance
  • Assists with labeling, bagging, and putting away sets as time permits
  • Assists with rewind/rework operations as necessary
  • Follows all safety rules
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor
  • This job/role is responsible for helping the site meet its quality objectives

Required Qualifications
  • Proficient mathematical and measurement skills; knowledge of metric conversions
  • 1–2 years of slitter assistant experience preferred
  • Ability to run multiple jobs simultaneously
  • Ability to handle project‑type work while working individually with little supervision
  • Experience working with production computer software
  • Broad knowledge of product and customer specifications
  • Mechanical knowledge of and ability to adjust gauges, scales, and hand tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Microsoft Suite knowledge
