Job Overview
Machine Operator I at Advanced Assembly Inc. (AAI), located in University Research Park on the west side of Madison.
Full‑time 2nd shift position Monday – Thursday 2:45 pm to 12:45 am. Competitive starting wage plus a comprehensive benefits package and a $1,500 sign‑on bonus paid after successful completion of a 90‑day probation period.
Responsibilities- Operate Surface Mount (SMT), Coating, Wave, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment.
- Follow written instructions, interpret written instructions, and make sound judgments while operating production equipment.
- Organize responsibilities to achieve maximum output to meet production and quality requirements.
- Understand and follow all applicable quality system procedures and perform all assigned responsibilities outlined in the quality system.
- Keep work areas neat and organized; follow established product handling procedures consistently.
- Set up, run, and tear down jobs on each of the production lines.
- Operate SMT line, Wave, coating or AOI equipment.
- Provide general assistance to the workflow when and where needed.
- Perform daily cleaning of machine as needed; follow the daily checklist.
- Communicate with Automation Technicians, Supervisor, or Team Leads on quality issues.
- Verify parts on the line; assist Automation Technicians as needed.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by the primary supervisor.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to read, speak, and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Knowledge of SMT, Wave, AOI, or coating equipment preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to fill out daily records and logs.
- Ability to distinguish colors, fine circuit detail, and tones.
- Former employees employed within the last 360 days are ineligible for the sign‑on bonus.
- Ability to stand in one area for long periods of time with minimal breaks.
- Ability to move freely and have sufficient reflexes to perform the same tasks repeatedly using hands to complete the task at a constant rate.
- Hand–eye coordination necessary to work with small electronic parts.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis.
