Lead Machinist - 2nd Shift (CNC) - $27.76-$35.21/hr + $2 Shift Premium

Location: Waunakee, WI
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 2:30pm-1:30am (4-Day Work Week!)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

We are currently recruiting a Lead Machinist to join a growing CNC machining department with a respected manufacturing company in Waunakee, WI. This is a working lead position-perfect for an experienced machinist who enjoys being hands-on while also taking the next step into leadership.

You'll work closely with the Machining Supervisor to support production goals, train team members, and help drive continuous improvement efforts. What You'll Do:

• Set up and run CNC mills/lathes using blueprints, routings, and process sheets
• Lead and support a small team of machinists on 2nd shift
• Train and mentor machinists on proper setup and quality procedures
• Perform basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on machines
• Verify part quality using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators)
• Communicate production needs across departments to hit daily targets
• Help drive safety, productivity, and process improvements
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of machining experience (CNC setup required)
• Strong blueprint reading and knowledge of tolerances (GD&T)
• Proficient with precision measurement tools
• Ability to lead, train, and support machinists in a production environment
• Mechanical aptitude with solid troubleshooting skills
• Leadership experience preferred but not required - open to senior machinists ready to move up
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 10-12 hour shifts
