Technician – Fire Testing

TEST TECHNICIAN

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Test Technician for our Building and Construction team in Middleton, WI. This role supports the testing and evaluation of construction‑industry products in our Building Materials testing lab.

Responsible for product testing, evaluation, and preparing technical reports per industry standards.

• Set up test apparatus
• Operate and maintain equipment and facilities
• Prepare test samples
• Obtain and record test data in accordance with standards
• Perform basic analysis of test data and routine calculations
• Extract and compile engineering data, as needed
• Prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures
• Communicate with clients and management
• Operate a forklift
• Perform other work as required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-3 years directly related experience
• Rough carpentry skills
• Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
• Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information effectively
• Capacity to execute simple step instructions
• Work in a fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment
• Physical dexterity for delicate tasks and light equipment
• Physical ability to routinely lift at least 50 pounds
• Physical endurance for standing, crouching, climbing, and other job tasks
• Operate forklift safely
• Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
