Your Job Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for Production Workers for our Madison Plywood facility! We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding that are ideal for residential and light commercial construction such as subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork.
Plywood is a strong, versatile product made by gluing together thin layers (veneers) of wood with the grain of each layer running in opposite directions. This cross‑graining makes it stable, durable, and resistant to warping.
Salary and CompensationStarting pay is $20 per hour. There is a $2 shift differential for night shift. Compensation may increase based on skills and contribution to overall plant performance.
Shift Schedule- Flexibility to work any shift is required.
- 12‑hour shifts following a 2‑2‑3 schedule.
- Days: 7:00am – 7:00pm, Nights: 7:00pm – 7:00am;
Finishing and Green end Departments follow a 4‑2‑4 schedule. - Availability to work days or nights as needed, including overtime, holidays, and weekends.
- Currently hiring for both day and night shifts.
- Orientation on Day Shift 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday‑Friday; permanent shift assigned after orientation.
- Employees participate in a points‑based attendance program.
Work environment is industrial, hot, humid, dusty, cold, and noisy with high volume. Tasks require walking on elevated catwalks over 15ft high and working for 10‑12 hour rotating schedules that include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities- Operate various machines throughout the mill.
- Adjust to changing work schedules to meet business demands.
- Remove sawdust and other debris from production equipment.
- Assemble veneer cores by layering sheets according to specified patterns and project requirements.
- Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures while proactively seeking out potential safety hazards, including wearing safety equipment.
- Assist team members throughout the mill as needed.
- Pull and lift plywood, panels, or scraps that could be up to 25lbs.
- Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12hours per day.
- Walk on elevated catwalks over 15ft high to perform daily duties.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas: manufacturing, agricultural, warehouse, construction, landscaping, automotive, military environment, or completion of post‑high‑school education in manufacturing/industrial.
- Two (2) years or more of experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment.
- Experience driving and operating a forklift.
- Experience working in wood products.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders and working at heights or in confined spaces.
