Material Handler
The Material Handler supports production operations by safely operating a sit-down forklift, supplying wood materials to the production lines, and handling shipping and receiving activities. This role includes loading and unloading trucks, packaging orders, performing basic computer and data entry tasks, and accurately reading and updating orders in Excel. The position requires a self-motivated individual who is eager to learn, can consistently lift up to 50 pounds, and can stand for extended periods in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently to move wood materials throughout the facility.
- Deliver materials to production lines to ensure operators have a continuous supply and minimize downtime.
- Load and unload trucks with incoming and outgoing materials and finished products.
- Package orders accurately and securely according to company standards.
- Perform basic computer work and data entry to track materials and orders.
- Read orders in Excel, verify details, and make edits or updates as needed.
- Use RF scanners to assist with inventory tracking, picking, and shipping activities.
- Assist with general material handling tasks, including staging, organizing, and replenishing inventory.
- Support shipping and receiving functions, including labeling, packing, and preparing products for shipment.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and stand for up to 10 hours during the shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in the production and warehouse spaces.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent production operations.
- Collaborate with team members and be open to cross-training in other departments as needed.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of sit-down forklift operating experience.
- Proven material handling experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand for up to 10 hours during the shift.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry.
- Ability to read, understand, and edit orders in Excel.
- Experience with packaging, loading, and unloading materials or products.
- Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory, picking, or shipping tasks.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong attendance history, verified through references.
- Ability to work safely around wood products in a production setting.
- Self-motivated attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- At least 1 year of manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in assembly, construction, or related hands-on roles.
- In shipping, packing, and inventory support.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to work occasional overtime on Fridays when needed.
- Strong attention to detail when handling orders and updating information in Excel.
- Positive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when tasks are assigned.

Work Environment
